At this time, these visits are limited to very simple issues that can be managed without necessarily requiring a visit to the clinic. Below is a list of some of the common, simple issues that we are able to manage virtually.
MEDICATION REFILLS*
We can refill most basic medications. These include but are not limited to medications for:
- Blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Thyroid issues
- Women’s health - emergency contraception (less than 5 days since sex), birth control
- Psychiatric medication refills (non-controlled). If you are currently experiencing thoughts of self harm, suicidal or homicidal ideation then please call 911 or mental health crisis hotline number 888-888-8888
- Men’s health- hair loss, TRT (in the future)
- *We cannot refill controlled substances via TeleHealth visits - opioids (codeine, morphine, percocet, etc.) or benzodiazepines (xanax, klonipin, ativan, etc) or amphetamines (adderrall)
RASHES
We can evaluate many rashes online. We cannot manage rashes online if you have had a fever or headache or other systemic symptoms along with the rash.
COLD SORES
A cold sore is a fluid filled cluster of blisters caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus. These are generally recurrent rashes that appear on the lips or face that are preceded by an itch or pain.
SIMPLE URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI)
A urinary tract infection is an infection of the urinary system, typically caused by a bacteria. A simple UTI usually involves some combination of strong smelling urine, pain with urination, frequent urination and small amounts of urine.
A simple UTI does NOT generally involve fever, chills, nausea vomiting, back pain, vaginal discharge or body aches.
SIMPLE VAGINAL YEAST INFECTION
A vaginal yeast infection is a common fungal infection of the vagina caused by overgrowth of yeast. A simple vaginitis yeast infection generally involves a thick, white, odorless discharge that may involve an irritation or an itching sensation.
The infection cannot be managed via Telehealth if you are having pelvic pain, fever or if you are pregnant.
SIMPLE VAGINAL BACTERIAL INFECTION, BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS (BV)
Bacterial vaginosis is an imbalance of the natural bacteria in the vagina. A simple infection is generally thin, may have a foul odor and may involve an irritation or an itching sensation.
The infection cannot be managed via Telehealth if you are having pelvic pain, fever or if you are pregnant.
ALLERGIES OR SIMPLE ALLERGIC REACTIONS
Seasonal allergies are minor allergic reactions triggered by such things as airborne pollen from trees, grasses, weeds, smoke and dust. Seasonal allergies generally involve some combination of itching/tearing eyes, runny or stuffy nose and sneezing. Simple allergic reactions generally involve a generalized and itching rash.
A simple allergy does not generally involve fatigue fever, chills or body aches. Simple allergic reactions do not involve shortness of breath or swelling of the lips or mouth.
PINK EYE (CONJUNCTIVITIS)
Pink eye, or conjunctivitis, is an inflammation of the normally clear membrane that covers the eye. A simple bacterial conjunctivitis can be caused by bacteria, viruses, irritation or allergies and leads to a redness and irritation of the eye.
We cannot see irritated eyes caused by any manner of trauma.
GENTIAL HERPES FLARE
A herpes flare is a recurrent outbreak of the herpes simplex virus. Symptoms can include painful sores or blisters, itching, and irritation. The rash is generally found around the mouth and genital region.
COVID-19 INFECTION
This is an illness caused by the Covid-19 virus. Typical symptoms involve fever, cough, fatigue, headache, sore throat and loss of sense of taste or smell. There are home test kits available and certain co-existing illnesses, age and likelihood of severe illness may qualify you for medications.
You may not need medications if you are young and otherwise healthy. If you are experiencing shortness of breath, chest pain or dizziness then you should be evaluated in person.
